Wudang Pai

Wudang Pai means Wudang sect and represents the spiritual and physical way of exercises that have been practiced by Daoist masters and their disciples for centuries, originating from the Wudang mountain chain in Hubei, China. They comprise Wushu (martial arts), Yueqi (music), Shufa (calligraphy), Qigong (breathing and "energetic" exercises), Yanjiu Gudai Zhuzuo (study of ancient writings) and Dazuo (meditation).

To this day different Daoist sects have been founded under the umbrella of two main Daoist directions that are present on the Wudang Shan: Zhengyi Pai (sect of the absolute unity) and Quanzhen Pai (sect of the complete truth). While Zhengyi Pai is mainly represented by the two sects Sanfeng sect and Xuanwu sect, Quanzhen Pai is represented mainly by the Longmen sect in the Wudang mountains.

Today's head master of the Xuanwu sect in the 14th generation is You Xuande, whose disciples comprise worldwide famous masters such as Tang Lilong, Yuan Limin and Tian Liyang. The head master of the Sanfeng sect is Zhong Yunlong, who has been teaching acknowledged disciples such as master Yuan Xiugang, Chen Shiyu, Zhong Xuechao and Chen Shixing.
